Job Description
• 2+ years experience developing in Visual Basic.NET. Programmers with experience in multiple languages should be considered if significant C# experience is among those, and they are willing to make VB.NET their new focus for the next few years
• Proven ability to interact effectively with business people, and to learn business needs, in order to identify requirements and design customer-delighting functionality despite a lack of formal specifications
• Knowledge of SQL and programming against databases from .NET. Experience using ADO.NET against SQL Server and MS Access
• Good knowledge MS Excel and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) within MS Excel to use in reverse engineering existing tools
• Experience in one of the following domains within U.S. health insurance: financial underwriting, actuarial pricing, product and benefit design
• Knowledge of fundamentals of computer science: algorithms, data structures, separation of concerns, key concepts of object oriented design, and basic object oriented design patterns (“Gang of Four”, Fowler’s P of EAA, etc.)
• Experience interoperating between VB.NET and Excel
• Experience using ClearCase (preferred) or other version control systems
