Flash / ActionScript / Rich Internet Application developer
Desired Candidate Profile
We are looking for a well-rounded computer engineer in addition to being an expert Flash developer. Ideal candidates should have worked on impressive Flash applications beforehand and displayed a keen product sense and contributed good ideas for product improvement.
- Candidates must be B.Tech in Comp Science
- 1 to 4 years experience in a software/internet company in similar role
- Strong fundamentals reqd in OOPs, XML handling, knowledge of Flash rendering & optimization, integrating Flash with external APIs & Web Services.
- Experience with with Actionscript (AS2, AS3), Flash, Flex; prior experience in building rich applications, game development, e-learning projects etc.
- Experience in building media players, widgets, embeddable audio/video players is an advantage.
- Knowledge of javascript, XHTML, CSS is a plus.
Both junior level (Flash Developer) and senior positions (Senior Flash Developer) are available depending on experience, background etc.
Job Description
As part of the SlideShare team, you'll use Flash to build a product that millions of people use every day around the world. We're looking for RIA hackers who have worked with Flash, ActionScript (AS 2.0 or AS 3.0), Flex, Adobe Air to craft amazing web experiences.
This is not a typical Flash profile, rather you'll get to work on "hardcore" technology problems like
- using Flash for our internal full feature, web based document viewer. This viewer is much faster and lighter than standard pdf viewers
- build Flash/Actionscript widgets & players that are embedded across millions of blogs & websites around the world
- measure, track, analyse and improve the performace of Flash components based on actual performance numbers. We work very fast (daily deploymens on production) and use a metrics based approach for driving our product design & development
- Flash video playback & optimisation for delivery across CDNs
- using Flash in our internally developed media format called slidecasting (this involves mashing up documents with audio (mp3) files in a flash based authoring tool)
- embedding YouTube videos inside our Flash based document viewers
- Using Flash for injecting "contact me" Lead generation forms inside documents and presentations (this is a patent pending technology)
- Solve difficult technical problems like direct SWF byte-code manipulation and optimisation for fast performance of web based document players.
Our Flash team is still small, hence you can have a huge impact in architecting and defining the future scope of a product that millions of people use every day.
