Position: Software Designer
Purpose of the Role:To analyse requirements, design modules and deliver defect free software within agreed timeframes & specifications
Activities:
Responsible for taking end-to-end ownership of the module for all the technical aspects, adhering to RBS group delivery standards, implementing best practices and taking delivery standards to the next level inline with technology roadmap set by the architecture team
Work closely with the UK team and Project Lead to understand requirements.
Producing technical specifications by analysing requirements, performing impact analysis
Producing technical design by understanding the detailed technical specification and impacted applications
Carry out Peer Reviews to ensure that quality goals are met around project deliverables and proactively improving system scalability, robustness, performance and flexibility.
Giving inputs to Team lead/ Project Manager for project planning, providing robust estimates for development tasks
Independently handling modules, build and unit test the code.
Regular and ad-hoc reporting status/progress to Team Lead/Project Manager, including escalation of issues and exceptions
Share technical knowledge with the team
Key deliverables:
Design and Code development with Java/J2EE measured against project plan and delivery standards
Traceability Matrix, Technical Design, Code, Code Reviews, Test Scripts, Implementation Plan.
Scope of Role:
· Analysis, design, code reviews, task estimation, software development, meeting timelines, testing, mentoring, taking part in recruitment activities, participate in stakeholder communication
Ensuring high quality and zero defect deliveries
Essential Experience:
Essential:
5+ years of experience in design & development role
Must have produced designs in atleast 1or 2 J2EE enterprise applications
Experience of developing N-tier J2EE applications
Experience of multi-stream development environment and infrastructure
Analytical and problem solving attitude.
Good Oral and written communications skills.
A quick learner and should be able to work under tight deadlines
Strong team player; organized, capable of multi-tasking, and willing to shift priorities to meet business needs
Desirable:
· Experience of delivering projects in financial services industry
· Domain : Corporate(Lending) or Retail banking
Qualifications:
Essential:
· Proven track record
BE / M Tech / MCA from good college / university
Desirable:
Any Java technical Certifications
Technical Competence
Essential:
· Hands on expertise in Core Java and J2EE
· Expert knowledge level J2EE - JSP, Servlets, EJB, XML, JDBC, JMS, Struts
· Good OO design and UML experience
· Good Knowledge of some Java/J2EE design patterns
Hands on experience of working with relational Database like DB2, Oracle
· Good Knowledge in Application servers WAS / Weblogic
· Knowledge in Spring framework, Hibernate/SqlJ framework
· Knowledge in Java Server Faces, JUnit would be preferred
Knowledge of Clear case configuration management tool, RSA cleartrust would be preferred.
Technical bent towards learning new concepts and technologies.
Desirable:
· Rational Software Architect and Modeller for various SDLC stages
· Experience on Websphere Portal Server 5.1 / 6.1
