Job Description
Analyzing product and technology requirements, working closely with product managers and team leads
Performing object oriented design and analysis on software components and systems
Developing functional specifications for new development
Defining high-level and low-level system architectures
Researching and recommending technologies to be used in product development
Developing high-level and low-level designs
Implementing functionality in Java, Swing, Hybernate, and SQL DBs
Testing and debugging code
Developing deployment scenarios for software and hardware components
Deploying and testing products in a highly available configuration
Communicating with management, team leads and team personnel on project status and risks
Leading and mentoring a small team of developers to design and implement products and features
Project planning (task identification, estimation, dependences, risk analysis)
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field
Master’s degree preferred
6+ years experience developing software in a commercial software development environment
Solid experience with Java and related technologies – mandatory
Object oriented design experience using UML – mandatory
Experience with modern software development methodologies – mandatory
Good organizational and communications skills – mandatory
Experience developing software for a highly available, web-based product – highly desirable
Project planning experience and familiarity with project planning tools – highly desirable
Experience mentoring and leading other developers – beneficial
Experience developing GUI applications in Swing – beneficial
Experience developing web-based clients and systems – beneficial
Experience in the healthcare domain – beneficial
