Senior Programmer
Job Description
Develop user/client requirements and document business and technical implementation plan. Develop program specifications for system components. Develop vendor interface files using Oracle PL/SQL, C#, VB, SQL Server and UNIX shell scripting. Provide security and user maintenance functions. Provide management and users with ongoing project status and issues resolution. Test and review the quality of developed programs. Test and review the quality of overall system.
Act as lead analyst for local system components during distributed implementations. Assure quality and integrity of final production implementation – compliance with committed function, dates, data integrity, and performance. Act as a mentor for Programmer Analysts on the team, for both code review functions and teaching new functionality. Document and train team on new implementations to ensure all team members have an understanding of production systems. Provide Tier III monitoring support to Tier I and Tier II teams.
Desired Candidate Profile
Experience Target (in this job or a related function/field): Five plus years experience with the following: Oracle Database and PL/SQL (Version 8 and above preferred), C#, Visual Basic 6, SQL Server, UNIX shell scripting. Five plus years experience in systems analysis.
Skills: Excellent technical skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent communication skills – must be able to speak to translate technical details into business terms for non-technical people. Excellent documentation skills a plus.
Knowledge/Abilities: Ability to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities. Ability to communicate technical information to business users and translate business requirements into technical specifications. Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision.
